i constantly hear the term "rat race." i feel like a lot of people describe la and orange county as that when they aren't from around here. i get it, i grew up in a small town, the traffic isn't pretty, the sky-rise buildings aren't the best view. but what la and orange county have to offer, are some rad hidden spots and adventures. i truly think i found one of my favorites today: topanga canyon.
it's a super rad drive, and easy to get into the canyon. literally take pch, and depending on which way you are coming from is either a right or left onto topanga canyon- drive up a few miles and you'll drop right in. our first stop was obvious: cafe mimosa. i was feeling a little risky and ordered the white chocolate cocoa. it was the best hot chocolate i have ever drank in my life. i can't even lie about that.
and let's be realistic, i totally made the drive for the shops. i was on the hunt for some good vintage harley tees, but sadly (not really sadly, i just didn't need any more) found turquoise. heaps of vintage turquoise. died. literally saving some pennies to make a trip back to come home with some.
i was so shocked, every little shop was an old house. so they had the cutest little back yard vibes. i was having some major envy. i think i even asked one of the shop girls if i could move in. #sorrynotsorry. some of the shops i totally suggest you making an effort to stop in at: pebbles. cute shop dog, as well as bohemian colors.
dust and fog. turquoise. vintage leather. and sage. what more could you want or need?
bouboulina. more turquoise. tye dye. heaps of clothing to dig through.
topanga candle company. peep the rad candle i purchased below.
all the humans we encountered, were so sweet, down to earth, and wanting to help. something that you don't really find around la and orange counties.

across from where we ate lunch was a little old strip mall. i instantly saw the homemade candle shop. what, candles? i walked in. they did the pouring and production right there in front of you. i've been on the hunt for a rad candle, the ones above fit the description to a t.
last but not least, on your way out... you have to stop at the topanga lookout. it's beautiful and somewhere you can stop for a little hike and fresh air.
